How to fix over processed lash lift

By | 10.10.2020

Let us set the scene. You have processed your clients stunning lash lift. Next morning you wake to a panicked client who is saying her lashes are over curled and crazyyyy. These are the bonds that hold the keratin in the hair together to make a strand.

In lash lifting we break these bonds. When we break these bonds we weaken the hair. Meaning they become dehydrated and hold a whole lot of water after we rinse, in-fact they can take up to 12 hours to fully dry and up to 48 for the hairs natural PH to re-balance! Ever noticed the clients lashes sometimes spring up a little the day after their lift? Be a professional. I have heard of technicians crying on the phone to their clients when this has happened.

Explain we all have different hair structure and it seems like this client in particular takes very well to the product. Then note you can completely reverse the treatment! Yep you sure can. Rebook the client for a relaxation. This is done by using a mascara brush with solution one rolling through the backs of the lashes pulling the lashes out straight to the tips for 1 to 2 minutes.

Remove solution one then repeat with solution two for 1 minute. Be aware tint will be stripped in this process. You must be logged in to post a comment.

I knew my instincts were right. I went to Google and found several places in my area that did Lash Lifts and settled on a salon on the West side of Denver.

Excited to get the process started, I scheduled the appointment for just a week out. The technician advised that she would have had me take them out had I worn them. I was so excited to get things started as you can see from the pic I took just an hour before!

After exchanging pleasantries, I proceeded to settle into the treatment bed. Very similar to a wax appointment, you lie down for the procedure. I asked a few questions before getting started. Questions that, in retrospect, should have made me walk away from the procedure all together. I stayed. The procedure itself took about an hour.

She applied the perming solution, using a tiny rod. Someone manipulating your lashes, combing them repeatedly, and putting pressure on the eye area just feels weird, which is to be expected.

I felt some slight burning, but nothing of concern. They were long, curled and really opened up my eyes. As I was leaving, I came back in to ask some aftercare questions as no recommendations were made and was told there were no restrictions and that I could proceed as normal. This also raised a flag for me. I mean, hellooooo…. Regardless, I left the salon… thanked everyone for their time, and headed home with my curly wet lashes. By the time I arrived home, my lashes had dried….

I was seeking the J, not the C. Not the C at all. Also fun, my bottom lashes are crimped. The other thing that happened over the next few hours is that my eyelids began to swell and my eyes got really red. With lids puffing up, I assumed an allergic reaction and proceeded to take some Benadryl and a nap. I also decided to wash the area really well. The technician actually left some residue on my lids, there was some in my brows, and I decided to fully clean my lashes, hoping for the Legally Blonde style results we all remember being explained from the movie.

I even added mascara to see what they would look like. Notice the crimping on the bottom lashes.

They literally flip up at the ends. And, note the puffiness of the lids and the redness of the eyes… sigh. So, now I wait for weeks. I think it would just be too much at this point. Again, sigh. Yesterday morning, I had brunch with my friend Bev… and she noticed my puffy eyes, but not really the lashes.

They actually look better without mascara, so I may just go sans mascara for a while. Make good decisions out there, and by all means, take care of your eyes!

My lashes are no longer fringed thank goodness! At Elegant Lashes we have done thousands and thousands of Lash Lifts. In fact, we were one of the very first salons in Sydney to introduce them as treatment way back in We know our Lifts. But unlike a traditional lash perm, instead of curling the lashes back onto a rod, the lashes are set on a shield which sets the lashes straight and up. Why is this better? With a traditional lash lift, lashes are curled back and can even appear shorter than before you got the perm.

A Lash Lift perms the lashes up so you see more of the lashes. Lashes appear longer and fuller as a result than if they are sitting straight ahead, unpermed. A Lash Lift is a perm. The lashes once in position have the lash lift perming solution is applied. Once the hair bonds have been broken down by the perming solution, a setting solution is applied so the lashes are set into the shape they are positioned in on the shields. Lash Lifting is a chemical treatment.

This means all the factors have to be just right to produce the result. A bit like baking. If the natural lashes are weaker or stronger than the eyelashes the product was designed and tested on, it means the Lash Lift may end up under or over processed. Most often then not, the normal processing time will be the right time for you. From the many years of experience in doing Lash Lifts at Elegant Lashes we have developed methods to determine if the processing time needs to be adjusted.

So our success rate with Lash Lifts even with difficult lashes is exceptional. Nevertheless, rarely, if you are new to the salon, the only way we can find out the right processing time for your lashes is by doing the Lash Lift and using the timing and the results of this first Lash Lift as a guide for you future Lash Lifts.

When this happens your salon can usually fix the under processed or over processed Lash Lift with a redo or reversal. Perhaps one in every thousand lifts we do will need to wait for the Lift to grow out over the following few weeks.

Please be kind to your beautician. In Australia, we all sign waiver forms for medical treatments for risks when we get procedures done because we accept there are factors that can affect outcomes. So on behalf of all beauticians out there, be kind.My Cart. The Lash Lift turned out beautifully, but only lasts weeks?

You did not leave the let the lifting solution process for enough time. The Lash Lift did not work? The main reason this will occur, is if you did not let the lift solution process for enough time. The handling for this is to repeat the procedure in a week's time. The other thing that may have occurred is that you used too much glue on the lashes which can cause the solutions applied to not penetrate enough for a result.

It is important to try and not use coat after coat of glue on the lashes when straightening them and placing them on the rod.

Eyelashes are crossed after treatment or become crooked? The natural lashes were not combed with a mascara wand and not pressed straight and evenly onto the rod or roll. This can be fixed by repeating the lash lift, however this time you do not use the rods and lift the lashes, you comb the solution downwards from the top of the lash to the bottom, let it process for minutes depending on how much reversal you want. When done, wipe off and then put your setting solution on and let this process for minutes.

This will reverse the lash lift to a degree and should fix the problem. This could be because the eye area and lashes were not cleaned fully and still have oil residue on them.

Locks Lash recommend Locks Primer. Replace your glue. You may have applied the treatment too far away from the lash line which will lift the lashes too late near the tips.

The lift treatment must be applied very close to the lash line so the lashes will be lifted straight away. This is caused from over processing the lashes and leaving the lift solution on for too long. If this occurs have the client apply coconut oil or a lash conditioner to their lashes at night and leave on while they sleep. This will rehydrate the natural lashes.

Thank you x. Ok thank you ciderella x. Gillfalcone Self employed beauty therapist. My trainer suggested putting oil on lashes, haven't tried it so not sure if it works. You need to just brush the solutions through with a mascara brush, no need to use the shields. So brush the 1st solution through for mins straightening them. Then remove excess solution and then use cold water to make sure it's all removed.

Dry the lashes and then repeat with the 2nd solution but only comb that through for 1 minute and then clean off as in step one. This is for Elleebana lash lift x. Ok thank you very much.

How to relax a lash lift?

She telephoned me to today say her lashes were all over the place! It was the elleebana lift. How soon could I do this relaxing procedure would you say? Robin Selman Member. If it' elleebana or any other lift However for elleebana minutes is way too long Apparently with Elleebana if the lashes didn't lift enough, you can relift same day with shields but leave solution on for minutes second round Although I don't think I would attempt this. The ampoules also exposed the lotions to air and saw the product begin to oxidise and reduce in effectiveness.

Elleebana redesigned the lotions, improved the raw materials used and decreased the processing times as well as changed the packaging from the ampoule to the single use sachet back in and in over 1. On each of the Elleebana products the processing time offers the range — Lift for 5 — 10 mins and set for 5 mins as determined by the clients lash strength. This might not happen immediately but the lashes will begin to show signs of damage after a period of time it might be only a few hours up to 24 hours later or it might be a week or two later.

The client might have identified to you that when they curl the hair on their head it drops quickly and this might give you some other indicators that they have stronger lashes.

Equally they might have mentioned that their hair is incredibly fine or holds a curl very well, this might indicate a finer hair structure and a faster processing time is required. The general rule of thumb for first time clients when using Elleebana products will be processed with step 1 lifting lotion with 6 minutes and step 2 setting lotion with 5 minutes. This processing time will work for a large majority of your client base and is a good processing time to begin with if you have clients with medium to strong visually appearing lashes.

For a fine lash that is thin, sparse or lighter in colour or for ethnicities whose lash strength is naturally softer or finer you will need to decrease your first time processing time. In some cases dropping the processing time for step 1 lifting lotion down to 4 minutes and step 2 setting lotion with 3 minutes — these processing times can still achieve amazing results on clients with lashes that require this reduced processing time.

Some processing time options for visually thinner or weaker natural lash conditions are:. At this stage we can increase the step 1 processing time lifting lotion but the setting time must remain at 5 mins. The setting time step 2 must remain at 5 mins until the lifting lotion processing time has been maximised.

For instance:. Only after all of these attempts and appointments would you then increase the setting lotion to 6 mins. Modification, misuse, copying or reproduction of this content in any manner without written permission from Ex-Import Niche Products is prohibited and Copyright laws will apply.

Let us introduce you to the lash lift, a semi-permanent treatment that aims to curl your lashes upward so you can ditch the eyelash curler.

The process, which is generally painless and fairly quick, seems to be gaining popularity. Chrissy Metz and Karrueche Tran are among the celebrities who swear by it. In order to find out how the process works, we went straight to the experts. Read on to find out all you need to know about lash lifts:.

Do Lash Lifts Ruin Eyelashes?

But unlike the harsh formulas that were once used to perm the hair on our heads, the treatment for lash lifts is gentler, according to Courtney Buhler, CEO and founder of Sugarlash PRO. She explained that the old method of lash perming included a different formula and a different tool for actually curling lashes.

Before starting the actual process, Angela Cordia makeup artist and eyelash technician in Toronto, said the eye area and lashes should be free of makeup and oil. The technician then applies a silicone mold or shield onto the eyelid using a non-toxic glue.

With the silicone mold on the eyelid, the technician then curls the lashes using the glue over the mold, which is curved upward and outward to create a curl. As Buhler noted, once the lashes are adhered to the shield and separated, that will reveal the final outcome. It should be noted that this service is done on the upper lashes. Buhler said it could take as little as five minutes, though the processing time depends on the thickness of the hair.

Then we wipe that off and put on the setting solution, and that re-hardens the hair so the shape is set in place. To get the desired curl, there are different mold shapes and sizes, Buhler added. Once the solution is removed, an oil or conditioning solution is often applied to the lashes. Lash lifts are often paired with lash tints for extra oomph, Cordi and Buhler said.

When the treatment is done, the client should avoid getting the newly permed lashes wet for the first 24 hours, Cordi and Buhler agreed.

Cordi also advised against sleeping too roughly on your lashes, which could cause them to lose the shape. Typically, a lash lift will last six to eight weeks, about the same amount of time as the lash growth cycle. Buhler said that they could last up to 10 weeks for some people. If you add a lash tint, it will be more expensive. Both Cordi and Buhler said that they rarely see clients react badly to lash lifts.

Lashes that are over-processed could look over-curled or droopy. The worst case, according to Buhler, would be breakage. Cordi said she always does a thorough consultation with clients to find out if they have any sensitivities or suffer from conditions like dry eyes.
